How to set up your WordPress Event Calendar?

If you know how to install WordPress plug-in, you probably know how to install an event calendar too. But if not, check out the following steps and activate an event calendar on your website.

Step number 1: configure your settings

When you activate the plug-in, one new Events calendar will appear the WordPress dashboard. You can click and select the Settings from there. You need to adjust the plugin’s configuration before you can add the events to your calendar.

Go to the General Settings page of the plug-in which provides you multiple options, but in the beginning, you only need to care about the seven of them. You should start from the top and select as much number of events to show per page as you can.

Now you must click on the enable comments which are appearing at the bottom of event page and the Show Comments Box too which would be great if you are planning to add the answers to your website as well.

You need to add the URL to the main events page before enabling it as it will guide the users about the page. You can either chose the default setting or else go for something simple for the sake of clarity.

You need to set the currency you wish to use for your event depending on where the event is happening or your location. By default, it is US dollars.

Finally, you need to add the Google Map for each event as well which will display your particular address. Here you can set the zoom level by default. You can always tick the calendar as nothings look better than a map for your venue.

Step number 2: select the style for your calendar

The Event calendar comes with default settings for the calendar, from which you have to choose. You can switch between three of them by clicking the plug-in settings and go to the Display section.

These settings are:

  1. Skeleton style: it is used for including enough CSS to achieve complex layouts like calendar and week view.
  2. Full styles: it provides more detailed styling and makes sure to grab the styles you have selected for your theme.
  3. Tribe Event styles: it is fully styles and designed theme for your event pages.

All of the above styles are minimalist and they are outstanding since they look perfect when paired with more modern themes. The Full Styles option is one of the favorite and most commonly used one.

By default, your event calendar will show the calendar you have selected along with the events you have scheduled for that week or day. However, you can add more changes but selecting the Display and scrolling it down where the Advanced Template Settings are given and you can add new and more elements to by using your WordPress editor.

Once you are done with it, you are good to go and add new venues.

Step number 3: add the venues

Adding the venues is simple for that you have to go to the Events then to the Venues in your dashboard and select Add New. A default editor will appear on the screen where you can select all the necessary information such as the name of the venue along with any description you want.

You can go to the other details like the city, country, state or province, phone, website and make sure you also tick the show Google map and show Google map links boxes.

Now you are good to go and publish your first event.

Step number 4: create your event

The process of adding a new event is similar like you have added the venue to your event calendar. You need to click on the Events, now select Add New and choose the name as well as a description. You can now scroll down and select the venue and date. You have to add the venue as you have done in step three with a drop-down menu.

Make sure that you select the price as well if your Event is paid.

Now you need to add the feature image on your Event which will provide them with all the details when they click on it within your calendar and hit publish. Congratulation you have published your first event.
